Step #3: Listen to your own good advice.

I can dish. I dish the hell out of some good advice. I can listen to you, look at your life and tell you what you need to change to be happy TODAY. It lays out so simply for me. Ronco Rotisserie simple. Set it and forget it. I can help you get in shape, clean your closet, organize your finances, quit smoking, call your mother, finish your homework, paint your apartment, follow your dreams, follow your heart and follow directions all before the hour is complete. I can NOT however, apply my own good advice to my own proverbial sink full of dishes. I walk away, turn off the light and save them for another day. For example, I cannot follow simple instructions (i.e. Step #1). It's been 15 months and I've made a whole new set of promises to myself starting with but not limited to: learning guitar, learning piano, saving for a beach house, finding a piano mover, finishing books I start, reading more, watching less TV, travel, learn French, volunteer, simplify, embrace the moment, stop worrying, write more all while being less self-conscious about all of it...though pitfalls loom around every unknown corner.

What I have accomplished though, is the breathing. I am ready to let it all go. Self-criticism is for overly cerebral neurotics and Woody Allen I ain't. So, I'm starting with the man in the mirror...again. (Maybe I should've aimed for becoming an 80%er, first...)
